The Start of Mary Kelly

It's a Wednesday evening in late June and I have spent any time not working (on my "real job") on this new little baby of mine. I am so excited to soon get to share my passion project with you - perhaps even inspire you to lean into your creativity side too ;). There is a very good chance that this project is a node to my ADHD and perhaps even a reminder that I get bored with things so quickly. I had a blog in 2018, which I started after I found out I was "NED" from a stage-three cancer diagnosis that occurred shortly after my 30th birthday. That blog, had I think, four different transitions, including names. My early thirties were a wacky time. I was convinced that I was going to change the world - spread light amongst girls who were fighting a battle they didn't ask for....I'd like to think that my blog served as an outlet to some, but for me, it quickly went to the side once my social life picked up after being sick. Ohhh, and then I also had a podcast at one point, wanted to start an embroidery shop, felt I should go to grad-school, I mean truly, the list goes on. All very fun ideas and projects, but none that kept me engaged.

I have been working hard to develop exciting interests as I get ollll.....okay pause right there, I am not old, it's a gift to grow old, I get it, I get it, but lets face it - I'm getting to the age where the nurses that do my triage are younger than me and I don't know it's just wild. Anyways, really it's just so I sound eclectic during "share a fact about you" at work, kind of like the excitement I get when I tell anyone who will listen that I am on a kick-ball team. Maybe interests isn't the right word, maybe it's....passions? One of my favorite entrepreneurs, Gary V, says to be successful in business you must offer a service to others and make the world a better place. I got to thinking and realized that much of my current state of happiness is driven by the charity work I do, the love I feel when I find and assemble the perfect gift for a friend, or when I can finally relax and write. Maybe it was the camino (IYKYK), but the next thing I knew I was drafting a business plan trying to incorporate all three - and that is how Mary Kelly was born. Named after my two favorite women in life, Shop Mary Kelly is designed to be a one-stop-shop boutique: complete with clothing, accessories, novelty items, baby gifts, event decor, and more! Knowing that I wanted my business to have a philanthropic component, I came up with the idea to create different collections, inspiring shoppers to shop with a cause. All three organizations are so close to my heart and I can't wait to share more!

If you have made it this far, thank you!!! It's a joy to have you on this ride with me and I can't wait for what is to come.
